O principal líder militar do Hamas, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, foi morto em um ataque de Israel na Faixa de Gaza. A ofensiva da última sexta-feira (15) deixou ainda outras sete pessoas mortas e mais de 50 feridos.

Segundo serviços de emergência do território palestino, as vítimas foram encaminhadas ao hospital Al-Shifa. As Forças de Defesa de Israel e a Agência de Segurança do país afirmaram, em comunicado conjunto, que al-Haddad foi alvo de um “ataque preciso”.

Neste sábado (16), o porta-voz do Hamas, Hazem Kassem, confirmou a morte do comandante, classificando-o como um dos principais combatentes da organização. O óbito também foi anunciado por mesquitas no norte do território. Al-Haddad é acusado por Israel de ter participado do planejamento do ataque do Hamas em 7 de outubro de 2023.
